“1910-D” Native Head Cent – Production Blog
All are over-struck on genuine US Mint Native Head Cents (circa
1887-1909), unless otherwise noted.
A few were broad-struck and/or multiply struck with moderate shift between
strikes. Some others were given a post-strike antiqued or color-toned finish.
The last Native Head Cents were minted in 1909 when the new Lincoln Cents went into production. The Denver Mint first produced cents in 1911. This fantasy over-strike represents a “what-if ?” scenario. The “D” mint-mark punch is the style found on 1910-D quarters.
NOTE: These are NOT endorsed by the US Treasury. Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.
Current Status:
All production has ended. The die has been defaced and
scrapped.
